Day 5 3/4 to 6

The Lizard is finally on the Train!  Sunday night Jay and Pat took us to the station in Jacksonville.  Bruce posted a really nice picture of the station on Facebook. We haven't figured out how to get his pictures into my blog yet, but we are learning something new everyday.

This is Donna. Our first contact with the Amtrak system.
Nothing flusters Donna.
A 2' long green iguana shows up at your window at 10 o'clock at night with a 15 page stack of papers that include multi-city tickets, itinerary's, and cute little calenders with a choo-choo on top, how do you respond. With a smile and a "multi-city? How fun!" Donna has the answers to all of our first time traveller questions.

The train was running late, by about 45 minutes but Donna assured us that they can often make up time en route. Just to be safe we e-mailed ahead to Terry, my baby sister, to let her know. Its bad enough having  to  pick family up from the station at 4 in the morning but driving for a hour to get there  and then finding out the train is late just doesn't seem polite.

Wanda got upper berth seating while Bruce and I were satisfied with coach seating. Great big, cushy, reclining  stretch out your legs as far as you can coach seating. Ahhhhh.
And yet, we still couldn't sleep. Not for lack of comfort so probably just a bit overexcited at the thought of our big adventure.

Far and Away Farm

Our 2nd stop on the Adventure is my sisters very hard won dream come true.  After following her military husband from one end of the country to the other and back again numerous times and  reiterating that she would never move again, she has finally put down her roots.  After a lot of blood, sweat, tears and plain old hard work by the both of them, she has the farm of her dreams. Complete with 6 Icelandic horses, a very small donkey, 3 dogs and 3 cats.

9 horses traveled with her from Idaho, as did 2 dogs and 3 cats.  And yet military families have a bad reputation for being the kind of irresponsible pet owners who dump the pets every time they move. Shame.

Fol is 28 years old and the big red boy Bo is 29.
They found horsie heaven and they are sticking with it.

The watch dogs are pretty ferocious too. Enough so that you may have noticed that Wanda has made herself really scarce. Seems the dogs have developed a taste for Lizard.

You have done an amazing job Sister. May you be blessed with many, many happy years here.
